Orkney

One of the greatest aspirations expressed by Members of the Scots Heritage Society is to visit their own Home Lands, to stand on the same ground as have generations of family before them, to meet distant relatives and recognise in them shared family traits, to gain a better understanding of who they are, and whence they came.

Scottish Heritage Tartan Book 13

There is no more potent symbol of our Scottish heritage than the tartan. In designing The Scots Heritage tartan I wanted a colour which would represent the global nature of The Scots Heritage Society, representing people of Scots descent throughout the world.

Cromarty Book 15

Tthere has been a human settlement at Cromarty for at least 8,000 years. Lying at the eastern tip of the Black Isle, between the Moray and Cromarty Firths, the site has always afforded good strategic advantage, a safe natural harbour and abundant marine and wild life.

This issue marks the fi fth anniversary of the publication of SCOTS, the offi cial journal of The Scots Heritage Society. SCOTS has grown into a global publication with over 30,000 subscribers all over the world.
